Not sure what to say at those interviews and press meets? Do you feel that you and your community’s issues are misrepresented, misquoted or sensationalized? Facilitated by Asma, this bilingual (English/Tamil) workshop will enable LGBT individuals and allies present simple and consistent messages that can be effectively picked up by the media.
The workshop will also provide an opportunity to finalize content of the material we will be sharing with the media, and to identify individuals who would like to participate in the pre-pride press conference, tentatively scheduled to take place on Saturday May 28, 2011. Read event report here.

Chennai Rainbow Coalition invites you to a Press Meet announcing the launch of Chennai Rainbow Pride 2011.
Chennai hosts its third annual Rainbow Pride in June 2011, a month celebrating visibility of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) and advocating against violence and discrimination on grounds of gender and sexuality. Several formal and informal collectives have joined hands to organize a month-long series of events, including film screenings, panel discussions, and performances, culminating in the Chennai Rainbow Pride March. Aniruddhan Vasudevan presents Brihannala, a queer performance piece as part of a fund raiser for Community Environmental Monitoring (CEM), a project of The Other Media, that works with pollution-impacted communities to support their struggles for environmental justice.
**While not an official Chennai Rainbow Pride event, it is being listed here because of the queer content. Also the organizers are supporters and allies of the queer movement, and have given generously of space and volunteer time at previous Chennai Rainbow Pride events in 2009 and 2010.
