Quilt
Quilt is Orinam’s reading group, in existence since late 2012. Participants are invited to share work that they find inspiring, their own, or simply join in and listen. English and Tamil are the most common languages of work shared at Quilt, though we have occasionally had work shared in Bengali, Marathi and other languages, with translated summaries.
Our definition of literature is quite broad, and has included writings spanning fiction, poetry, erotica, biology, and legal judgements; all of queer/trans relevance.
Quilt meet-ups have been held at diverse venues in Chennai over the years, including Semmozhi Poonga, bookshops, on the beach, and in spaces belonging to NGOs. Message [email protected] to find out more. During Pride month (June), Quilt morphs into Orinam’s popular queer poetry and spoken word performance event.
